Kildare County Council have given the green light for the next phase of the Park and Ride service that is in the pipeline for Kilcock.

According to local Fianna Fáil TD, Frank O'Rourke, the council have given the go ahead for Part 8 planning permission. The public consultation process will commence on January 30.

The service will be located outside the Lidl outlet in the town, and it will have a capacity of 100 places for rail and bus commuters.

“Where a project is being progressed by Kildare Co Co, planning permission is applied for under Part 8 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001-2013," said Deputy O'Rourke.

"It is now necessary for Kildare County Council to engage in this process. This will give the public a window of opportunity for public consultation in relation to the park and ride. ”

“I have been campaigning for improved public transport for Kilcock and surrounding areas. We are making progress. This park and ride will be a valuable resource for commuters. Kilcock is now included in the Shop Hop Zone for Rail commuters which had the effect of reducing the fares for commuters. We must make further progress on Bus Route 115, and I have made representations to have a service every 30 minutes during the day for Kilcock.”
