A special farmers and artisan market will be held just outside of Clane next month as locals seek to raise money for the Jack and Jill Children's Foundation.

The market will be held at Firmount House on the Millicent Road just outside of Clane, which is an old Victorian house steeped in history. It has acted as a bunker for high ranking officials before many of the features were destroyed by the Department of Defence a number of years ago.

The event is being run by three local women from the town, Eilin O'Carroll, Vivian Byrne and Raquel Harvey, who decided to pull together some funding for the local children's charity.

There will be a variety of stalls at the market on the day, while there will also be face painting and plenty of games to keep kids occupied. A barbecue will also be held on the day.

The event will be run from 10.30am-3pm on Sunday June 5 and all fees for stalls will be donated to the Jack and Jill Foundation.
