A driving ban and a fine was imposed on a man from Allenwood who appeared at Naas District Court on Thursday, March 17 last.

Stephen Heffernan, with an address listed as Bluetown, Allenwood, Naas, was convicted by Judge Desmond Zaidan for a drug-driving offence.

The court was told by gardaí that the 28-year-old was caught driving while under the influence of cocaine at The Downings in Prosperous on June 21, 2021.

Mr Heffernan pleaded guilty to the offence.

Gardaí told Judge Zaidan that Mr Heffernan has four previous convictions: two for drug-related offences, and two for burglary offences.

The judge said that he would impose a one-year driving disqualification, in addition to a €400 fine, which to be paid within three months.

Defending solicitor David Powderly asked for the judge to delay the disqualification coming into effect to August 1, which the judge agreed to do.
