Bollards need to be put in place to stop this - Kildare councillor

Action needs to be taken against people who park outside a primary school.

At a Naas Municipal District committee meeting, Cllr Bill Clear asked if Kildare County Council has conducted any surveys or investigations “regarding the traffic situation at the primary school in Kill.

He said “conditions are particularly difficult for children walking or cycling to school, and immediate action is needed to address these safety concerns.”

It was pointed out by KCC that the Naas to Kill active travel scheme progressed through the public consultation stage “a number of years ago.” This would lead to improved facilities for cyclists and walkers at the school and elsewhere, but KCC is “awaiting sufficient funding from the National Transport Authority to enable the detailed design to progress for  this scheme.”

Cllr Clear said that putting down plastic bollards would solve the problem.
