A Fire Service spokesperson added: "The recommendation is to keep windows closed in the case of wind changing direction and carrying the smoke towards them."

On Wednesday evening, another fire broke out in the Maddenstown area on the edge of the Curragh.

In recent days, Kildare Fire Service and the Department of Agriculture have warned of the risk of fires due to dry vegetation due to the heatwave.

People have been advised to be careful with discarding cigarettes or the location of BBQs.
