The Local Authority Waters Programme has praised a small community in Kildare for a big clean-up.

Up to 17 locals in Roseberry near Newbridge gathered several black bags of rubbish as well as items such as old domestic appliances.

The Local Authority Waters Programme works with local authorities, public bodies, water users, and local communities to protect and restore good water quality.

The organisation said: "Well done to the Roseberry Community for their clean up in Kildare in April!

"17 members of the community removed a large variety of waste from their area, improving the local environment, and removing potential sources of water pollution, helping to protect the River Liffey."
