Plans granted for 195 much needed new homes in north Kildare town despite appeal

Almost 200 new homes will be built in Leixlip after Kildare County Council gave the green light to a massive €25 million project that will deliver housing to an area of the county that is in need of more units.
An Bord Pleanála upheld Kildare County Council's decision to grant planning permission to Kilross Properties Limited for the construction of 195 dwellings after an appeal had been lodged against the project. The site is located in the vicinity of other large housing developments at the townland of Easton, off Green Lane, Leixlip.
Permission was granted to the developers on January 6 of this year, but an appeal was submitted to An Bord Pleanála on February 3, though they have now rejected that.
The large development will consist of one five-bedroom two-storey detached house, 22 four/five bedroom three-storey semi-detached houses, 39 four-bedroom two-storey semi-detached houses, one four-bedroom two-storey detached house, 126 three-bedroom two-storey semi-detached and terraced houses and six two-bedroom apartments in a two storey building.
There will also be 390 car parking spaces provided, and entrance to the site will be via a new junction onto Green Lane.
