Marcella Fagan is a student at the Institute of Technology Carlow, in her second year in Law, while also working part time in Rushes Supervalu Naas.

Marcella told KildareNow: "Each year I set a goal for myself to accomplish and this year my goal is  to make a difference.  I have decided to donate 10 inches of my hair and donate it to the Little Princess Trust Foundation.

"It's taken quiet some time to determine and read into which organisation I would choose and how much hair could I donate more than the asking length.

"The organisation with the hair that is donated, provides free wigs to both girls and boys across the UK & Ireland.

"Social media is a powerful thing so I have set up a donation page online:

"In situations where the Trust is not provided with donated hair they have to purchase wigs worth £350 which converts to €450 and that's the target in which I've set on my donation page.

"It's giving little girls confidence, something that every person should have especially little girls and boys so that they can believe, believe that there's still hope and that there is still magic in the world.

"It won't take the pain away but I hope it will make them feel happy and love themselves.  I can't fix all the problems in the world but I can help make a difference to a little boy or girl's life."
