Robbing banks with guns has been replaced by money laundering

Funds were transferred out of an individual's bank account
Money laundering is the new armed robbery.
That’s the view of sitting district court judge Desmond Zaidan.
He was dealing with a case at Naas District Court which was adjourned but which involved the transfer of €9,000 out of an individual’s account and just over €3,000 was recovered by the bank, AIB.
“These are new armed robbers; instead of a gun it is an electronic device that is used,” he said.
Judge Zaidan said that everybody receives texts to their phone from criminals seeking to access their bank details.
“It is more common than shoplifting," he told Naas District Court.
