Stunning Kildare stud home to the sire of Arkle going to auction this month

One of Kildare's most famous studs is going to auction later this month, and those who have a deep love of horse breeding and plenty of money to splash on a new residence will be very interested.
Loughtown Stud, which is located in Donadea, will go to public auction at Carton House on October 24.
The impressive 171 acre farm is being sold in three lots, with lot 1 comprising of residences, yards and 80 acres of land, while lot 2 features a yard with 91 acres of land. The third lot is for the entire 171 acres and all the buildings on it.

The stud is renowned in the bloodstock industry having bred the 1963 Irish Derby winner Ragusa and hosting Archive, sire of the great Arkle at stud. Other famous horses associated with Loughtown Stud are Red God and Raise You Ten.
The land is laid out in 20 divisions ranging from Stallion paddocks and nursery paddocks to summer grazing paddocks.

The man residence on the land is in superb condition and is a single-storey ranch style house. It has just two bedrooms, but the spacious 2,000 sq ft property offers plenty of scope to add to that.
There is a cut stone managers house that features four bedrooms, though it is in need of some refurbishment to bring it up to proper living standards.
There are two further one & two bed staff apartments in the yard along with the 3 bed gate lodge at the back gate of the property.
The three yards comprise the main yard close to the managers house, the new yard both in Lot 1 and the yard in Lot 2 with American barn (12 boxes)
In total, facilities include 54 boxes, horse walker, lunging ring, covering ring, three stallion boxes, foaling boxes, silica sand outdoor arena, vets unit, office, hay and machinery sheds.
