Tesco raises dough for children's hospital with Great Irish Bake

Tesco stores in Kildare will be hosting a Great Irish Bake to raise much needed dough for Tesco’s national charity partner; Temple Street Children’s Hospital on Friday, April 5.
Now in its fifth year, Tesco Ireland’s 151 stores nationwide will be hosting a Great Irish Bake sale in aid of Temple Street, with the aim of raising €100,000 for much needed equipment for the hospital.
This year, all funds raised will be used to replace an Ophthalmology YAG Laser, which is used to improve a patient’s vision after cataract surgery.
With an ambitious target of raising €5 million by the end of 2019, Tesco will once again host the nationwide fundraiser Great Irish Bake taking place on April 5.
Each store, office and distribution centre across the country will be getting involved by baking, and in some cases faking, their culinary creations to raise the much-needed funds for the little heroes of Temple Street.
Sweet treats
Customers will be invited in store to pick up a sweet treat (or two!) on the day, prepared by a dedicated team of Tesco colleagues, to show their support for the little heroes of Temple Street. It’s more than baking – it’s raising dough!
In 2018, Tesco stores in Kildare raised over €5,500 for the little heroes of Temple Street as part of the Great Irish Bake and are aiming to beat that figure this year.
Tesco colleagues and customers have raised over €4.2 million for the hospital in just four years of their partnership with Temple Street, helping to buy much needed equipment for the hospital’s theatres, wards, laboratories and intensive care units
Passionate
Aoife Donohoe, Head of Corporate Affairs Tesco Ireland said: “Now in its fifth year the Great Irish Bake for Temple Street Children’s Hospital is a fundraiser that we are hugely passionate about.
"On Friday, 5th April, our colleagues nationwide will come together to host a fun filled day in our stores for customers, who are invited to enjoy a sweet treat from a selection of delicious cakes and baked creations.
"Make sure to pop into stores across Kildare to get involved and support our worthy partners at Temple Street.”
