Thousands of euro raised by charity race at Punchestown

The 28th running of the Punchestown Charity Race was the curtain raiser to the 2017 Punchestown National Hunt Racing Festival on Saturday 29th April.
The majority of the 34,000 crowd stayed on to cheer on the 24 amateur riders that had raised €1,250 each to participate in the race.
It was won by Mr Boss Man with Ian Haughan on board who came home in front of Trudie Smith and Daisy’s Gift with Deirdre Hogan and Shingari in third.
Race Organiser James Nolan said he was thrilled with another successful event at Punchestown and looks forward to seeing the new Renal Ward open in Temple Street Children’s Hospital in September, which has been supported by The Punchestown Kidney Research Fund.
It will be a major benefit to all the children, doctors, nurses and families that attend Temple Street Children’s Hospital.
Just like the Punchestown Festival which goes from strength to strength every year the PKRF Charity Race already has a lengthy list of applicants for 2018.
As always the PKRF tries to create Organ Donor Awareness through the running of the Charity Race and James Nolan politely asks people to consider carrying an Organ Donor Card.
James suggests that people pick one up in any Pharmacy and read the information leaflet inside the card.
Have a chat about the Organ Donor Card at home and feel free to make your own mind up and let your family know your wishes.
