Weather Warning for Kildare; Curragh to hold precautionary inspection for Sunday's racing

A Status Yellow - Rain Warning has been issued for Kildare from this evening until 11am tomorrow morning.

The warning also applies to Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Dublin, Longford, Louth, Meath, Westmeath, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon, and Sligo.

Met Éireann warned of further spells of heavy rain at times bringing the potential for localised flooding.

Meanwhile Curragh Racecourse is to hold a precautionary inspection at 7.30am on Sunday morning to decide if day two of the Juddmonte Irish Oaks weekend goes ahead.

Clerk of the Course Brendan Sheridan said on Twitter that overnight rain could affect racing tomorrow.

He said: "We had a few heavy showers this evening and Met Eireann is a bit unsure how much rain we are going to get tonight - we could get 8ml, we could get 10ml, we could get 15ml.

"But the track is currently raceable, but because of the overnight rain we will have a precautionary inspection at 7.30am on Sunday morning."
