A woman had to take time off work after being followed almost on a daily basis.

A west Kildare man appeared before Naas District Court.

He is being prosecuted for alleged harassment between January 1, 2017 and August 31, 2021 at Tesco, Monread Road, Naas.

Sgt Dave Hanrahan said it will be claimed that he constantly followed the woman on a continuous basis and she had to take time off work.

“She had to leave work for a time,” the sergeant stated.

The court heard that the defendant, aged in his 40s, is not working and he receives social welfare payments.

Judge Desmond Zaidan granted free legal aid to defending solicitor Joe Coonan.

He adjourned the case and said full details of the case against the defendant, including CCTV material, are to be provided by the prosecution to the defendant’s solicitor.

The judge also added a condition to the defendant’s bail terms which states he should not have any contact with the alleged injured party.
