Work is due to start on the new €6.5m HQ for Bord na Móna in Co Kildare.

Dublin-based Flynn Management & Contractors have been hired as the main contractors for the five-storey building off the Main Street of Newbridge.

The landmark facility will feature offices and staff facilities with a floor area of over 3,000 square metres, including an external terrace on the fourth floor.

Energy efficiency is a key objective of the design and native Irish trees and plants will also be used in the landscaping to promote biodiversity.

A new car park to the rear of the new building will accommodate additional car parking spaces.

The designs include an employee gym, a mothering room, a sensory room, a prayer / meditation space and gender-neutral toilets and showers.

Also in the designs is signage, external lighting, an ESB substation and bicycle parking.

Flynn Management & Contractors also have offices in Limerick, Cork, London, Copenhagen, Frankfurt and Amsterdam.

Recent projects include the Trinity College Innovation Hub in Dublin and Ballincollig Primary Care Centre in Cork.

Bord na Móna, which has had a presence in Newbridge for over 70 years, employs around 240 people.

The firm began extracting peat from bogs across the country in the 1940s but has now transitioned to a climate solutions company helping to lead Ireland towards a climate neutral future.
