Design works are due to commence at Dagweld’s Cross soon, according to Kildare County Council (KCC).

The news was confirmed to Fine Gael councillor Brendan Weld at the latest Clane-Maynooth Municipal District meeting, which was held on Friday, November 3 last.

Cllr Weld asked KCC when a design for the works would become available.

He also asked when the works would commence.

In it’s report at the meeting, KCC informed Cllr Weld that the works will commence soon, and added that the elected members 'will be kept informed on the project timeline over the next number of months.'

Cllr Weld said: "The bridge is very dangerous to drive over, let alone meet another car on top of it.placeholder image

The subject was raised by Fine Gael Cllr Brendan Weld at the latest Clane-Maynooth Municipal District meeting.

He asked: "Can we ask KCC to liase with the local landowners now, over the best possible solution?"

A representative of KCC replied that the site team 'will be informed' soon.

"The people looking at it (Dagweld’s Cross) are local too, so there will be aware (of the frustrations shared by locals) too.

"I agree though, advancing this by means of a local buy-in would be helpful," the representative added.
