Accused of Portlaoise pub assault

The DPP has directed that an alleged assault in Portlaoise be dealt with in the Circuit Court. 

Stephen Brennan, 33, of 43 Oakleaf Place, Portlaoise is accused of assault causing harm at Maggie May’s, Top Square, Portlaoise on December 3 last year. 

Garda Sgt JJ Kirby said the DPP had directed the matter be dealt with on indictment on one count of assault causing harm. The case will now go forward to the higher  Circuit Court. 

Judge Andrew Cody adjourned the case to Portlaoise District Court on November 16 for service of a book of evidence.
