'Arts and crafts' warning issued by Laois Gardai

Gardai issued an unusual warning to crafty offenders after stopping a car in Laois. 

They posted an “arts and crafts” warning after discovering a modified tax disc in a vehicle which hadn’t been taxed for nine months. 

Gardai explained that their Automatic Number Plate Recognition(ANPR) system alerted them to the unpaid tax. 

“Laois Roads Policing Unit on patrol in Portarlington overnight stopped a vehicle after an ANPR alert for expired tax. The owner had modified the displayed tax disc to appear up to date,” Gardai said. 

“These crafty efforts just cannot compete against modern technology. Court proceedings commenced,” the added.
