Date confirmed for Portlaoise bulky waste free collection

A hugely popular chance to dump large waste items for free in Portlaoise is coming up.
Laois County Council has confirmed the date of its Bulky Waste Amnesty day in Portlaoise.
It is to take place in Portlaoise Rugby Club, on Saturday, July 29, from 9.30am until 3030pm.
The public can leave their unwanted old bed bases, mattresses, couches, chairs and tables.
The usual fee for dumping mattresses in Kyletalesha civic amenity is €20 each, while other items must be paid by weight.
The council received a Government grant earlier this year to cover the costs, in efforts to cut the levels of illegal dumping in the Laois countryside. The mattresses are sent for recycling.
The amnesty is only for domestic users, not for businesses.
