Drainage works needed on "rapidly deteriorating" Laois road

The issue was raised at a recent meeting
Drainage works were requested on a road that regularly floods in Laois.
Independent Cllr Ben Brennan asked the council to address the flooding at the latest meeting of Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District.
He asked in a motion: “That Laois County Council examine the flooding issue outside the house in Aghaterry as the road is deteriorating rapidly.”
In response, Senior Executive Engineer, Philip McVeigh said “Laois County Council will arrange for drainage improvement works to be carried out at this location in the coming weeks.”
Cllr Brennan said the “whole road is flooding” and the road surface is deteriorating as a result. The motion was seconded by Independent Cllr Aisling Moran.
