Electric Picnic red carpark 'crazy' as traffic delays continue on site

Campers frustrated at delay to get out of festival carpark
Campers trying to drive home from Electric Picnic are reporting big delays in even getting out of the red carpark.
An estimated 80% of the 75,000 ticket holders camp at the festival so the mass exodus is underway this Monday.
One frustrated camper spoke from site to the Leinster Express / Laois Live.
"It's crazy. We are in zone D of the Red Carpark. We have moved from zone nine to five in one hour and 15 minutes. That's about 30 metres.
"Luckily we have enough petrol but we need the bathroom.
"There's cars everywhere, people are trying to skip the queue, trying to merge in.
"They need more stewards, there's none in the middle of the field. We could be two hours, we're not even close to the exit onto the road," the camper said.
Others are complaining on the Electric Picnic Banter Facebook page.
"It's a nightmare, my daughter said it's bedlam on the inside trying to get out, seems to be a s**t show this year," one said.
"We've been sitting 1hr in same queue, moved twice by about 4 car spaces, Red A zone 2 no movement," another reported.
A top contributor to the banter page suggests to park.
"Bit of advice, park up and turn off," says Jamie Keane, with another noting "more friends to be made".
Laois Gardaí give the following advice for people who are not driving.
"We are asking that all persons who are in the Pick Up/Drop Off area at the Electric Picnic take a bus to Portlaoise and organise for their lifts to meet them there. Thanking you and get home safely."
Kildare Gardaí urge patience.
"As Electric Picnic has now concluded we expect Traffic on all routes through Kildare and surrounding counties to be extremely busy throughout today. Please be patient, take care on our Roads and stay safe."
