Laois is among six counties to share in €20,000 from the Children’s Rights Alliance

Twenty five Portlaoise families living in food poverty have been given a kind boost of €5,000.

Car rental company Enterprise Mobility has donated €20,000 to Children’s Rights Alliance Funds to support charities in Donegal, Dublin, Monaghan, Cavan, Limerick and in Portlaoise in Laois.

A new report from the Children’s Rights Alliance, in partnership with Enterprise Mobility and four local charities, has highlighted the significant financial burden faced by families during school holidays.

In response of the report, Enterprise Mobility generously donated €20,000 to support over 230 families and nearly 800 children across six counties in Ireland.

The support is particularly crucial during school holidays when families often face increased expenses for food and activities.

In County Laois, Enterprise Mobility has donated €5,000 to the Portlaoise Family Resource Centre in Knockmay. This funding has provided 25 families, including 100 children and young people, with essential supermarket vouchers.

One Social Worker at Portlaoise FRC who supported a single mother, described the benefit.

“Mum was so delighted to get the weekly voucher over the summer as it allowed her to keep up with payments of bills as she had the vouchers towards food costs.”

Leslee O’Loughlin is HR Manager for Enterprise Mobility in Ireland.

“No family should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from. Through our Fill Your Tank initiative, we aim to provide real, tangible support to families in need. We are proud to help ease the strain that so many parents face, especially during the school holidays when children are at home.”

Over the past three years, the Fill Your Tank initiative has made a significant impact, supporting nearly 1,000 families and 2,300 children across eight counties in Ireland.
