Frozen flooding made bad Laois road worse

Heavy frost on the flood Rathdowney road in Ballacolla made an already bad route worse, according to Cllr Ollie Clooney.
The Independent councillor wants Laois County Council to take measures at Ballygauge the flood prone area. He also believes a bigger job of work is also needed.
“It was particularly bad when heavy frost came…It was very dangerous,” he said.
Replying Edmond Kenny, District Engineer, said crews would attend to this road in the coming weeks.
Cllr Clooney added that the Durrow to Cullohill road needs work.
“There are bad turns and there is a lot of traffic. We can’t have flooding on it especially in frosty weather,” he said.
He raised the issue at the recent Borris-in-Ossory Mountmellick Municipal District Meeting.
