James Lucas is a member of Killeen Community Assocation wrote this tribute.
"This is a post that we are writing with the most profound sense of regret that we are capable of mustering at this time. John Moran, who had just recently joined our committee, passed away in a shocking and unexpected way shortly after joining us.
"The fact that John has been serving on our committee these past few months has brought about an incredible amount of joy for everyone involved. He was the kind of man who, no matter what he was working on, would devote his undivided attention to the task at hand.
"The work that John did for the entire Killeen Community was exceptional, including the construction of the community hall and sports area, the playground, various road improvements, and his participation with the school, Arles/Killeen GAA, and Killabban monastery, to name a few of the organizations that benefited from his efforts.
"Other organizations that benefited from John’s work include the Killabban monastery, the community hall, and the playground. John is responsible for the construction of both the community hall and the sports area. John is the one who constructed the playground.
"His departure will not only be sharply felt in the community of Killeen, but it will also be keenly felt throughout the entirety of Laois County. Not only will his absence be felt severely in Killeen, but it will also be felt severely in Laois County.
The very warm and pleasurable memories we have of John will continue to be very significant to us for the rest of our lives. I send up a prayer that throughout all of eternity, he will be at rest and content," Mr Lucas said.
