The Watchorne family own the nearby Jerimiah Grant Bar and Eatery in Portlaoise and also own a pub, supermarket and Gym in Mountmellick.

The plans were approved this week subject to ten conditions. The move will bring the old bookstore building, which has been vacant for some time, back into use again. The centrally located building used to house Laois Education Supplies and after that Easons, both of which were run by the late John McNamee and his wife Betty.
