A man admitted to having drugs for personal use on the train in Laois.

Michael Connors, 37, with an address at 10 Marlfield Crescent, Tallaght, Dublin was arrested by Gardai at Portarlington Train Station on January 13 last.

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the defendant was arrested by Gardai who were conducting checks on trains coming from Dublin as part of a multi-agency operation.

He explained that gardai had become aware of a person on board who was in the toilet with his girlfriend.
