Trees are damaging footpaths and even a traffic light in Graiguecullen, a councillor has claimed.

Cllr Ben Brennan asked the council to take action in relation to the damage to footpaths at the latest meeting of Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District.

“All the footpaths are getting broken in Graiguecullen,” he said.

“They are breaking the footpaths and one of the lights is even turned sideways now from the branches hitting it,” he added.

Cllr Brennan said he had raised the issue previously and he wanted action taken.

“It is falling on deaf ears here all the time,” he said.

He said the problem is evident on the link road and he asked that action be taken before more damage is caused to footpaths in the area.
