Justin McNulty will be hoping to make it two wins from two in Division 4

The Laois footballers will be on the road this weekend as they make the trip to Wexford for the second round of the Allianz Football League. Both sides come into the game having won their opening games, Laois defeated Longford while Wexford came home from London with the two points.

Saturday nights game against Longford saw a new era of Laois football get under way as Justin McNulty took charge of Laois for the first time since been reappointed as Laois boss having taken charge of the O'Moore County from 2010-2013.

Wexford will want to turn the tables on their recent results against Laois having lost twice to Laois in 2023. Laois recorded wins in both the league and the Leinster Championship. Five points separated them in the league while four points was the margin in the Leinster Championship quarter-final.

The Yellowbellies were made to work for their victory over London having only led by a single point at half-time. They were dealt a major blow in the second-half as Darragh Lyons was shown a black card. Wexford kicked on and took full control of the contest as they won out 1-13 to 1-8 with Eoghan Nolan getting the Wexford goal.

A win for Laois on Saturday evening would put them in a pole position in the table with Carlow set to come to Laois Hire O'Moore Park in two weeks time in what could be a top of the table clash and one which could decide promotion as this early stage. Laois will want to make sure it's not a case of deja vu as they won the opening three games of the league in 2023 and failed to gain promotion.

Wexford and Laois clash in Wexford Park on Saturday, February 3 from 6pm. Tickets for the game can be bought in the following stores; SuperValu Stradbally, Breslin's SuperValu Rathdowney, McConville's SuperValu Mountmellick, McLoughlin's SuperValu Portarlington, Mulhall’s SuperValu Portlaoise, SuperValu Abbeyleix and SuperValu Parkside Portlaoise as well as online.
