Laois gardai crackdown on speeding

Laois Gardai are continuing their crackdown on speeding at locations where concerns have been raised. 

Gardai issued a number of fines to motorists in Killeshin yesterday. It's one of a number of locations in the county where similar operations have taken place in recent months.  

“Laois Roads Policing Unit conducting speed enforcement in Killeshin today following local concerns,” Gardai said. 

“A number of fixed charge notices were issued to speeding motorists," they said. 

Laois Offaly Gardai used the crackdown to highlight the increasing level of fatal crashes on the roads.   

"There have been 100 deaths on Irish roads so far in 2023. This is an increase of 11 on last year,” Gardai stated.
