Time to get cycling with over 50 events planned across Laois

It is that time of year again to hop on your bike and fall in love with cycling for National Bike Week.

Over 50 events are taking place right across Laois to mark Bike Week 2025 which runs from May 10 to May 18. From family treasure hunts and heritage tours to mountain biking taster sessions and safety workshops, this year's line-up has something for everyone — whether you’re a beginner, a seasoned cyclist, or just curious about getting started.

“There are events to encourage people of all ages and abilities to experience the many benefits of cycling,” said Cllr Fleming.

“We have something for everyone — all free of charge. I encourage everyone to take part in Bike Week 2025!”

Backed by the National Transport Authority, co-ordinated by Laois County Council and delivered by community groups, schools and agencies, this annual celebration promotes cycling as a fun, healthy, and sustainable mode of transport — with benefits for the environment, our communities, and personal wellbeing.

“Laois County Council is proud to support Bike Week once again,” added Mr. Rainey.

“Cycling can transform how we live — it’s better for our health, our environment and our wallets. We hope everyone will take this opportunity to experience the joy of cycling.”
