Planning permission is being resought for a development in Laois that in the past was appealed to An Bord Pleanála.

Garryduff Properties Limited had run out of the planning permission alloted time to build the approved 36 houses in Cooltaderry, Portarlington.

They are now applying again for the very same scheme, as "market conditions are such that the site has now become viable".

The scheme is proposed to be accessed from the existing Lansdowne/Castlelea Estate.

The 36 houses would have 18 two storey semi-detached, 12 two storey terraced houses and six single storey semi-detached houses.

The scheme was first approved by Laois County Council planners in 2016.

It was appealed by several local residents to An Bord Pleanála but the authority upheld the council's decision in 2017, against their own inspector's recommendation.placeholder image

The proposed development and the proposed development will also include estate roads, footpaths, public open space, foul and surface water drainage, landscaping and all associated infrastructure works and services.

A decision is due by May 10.
