Sinn Féin's Aidan Mullins lists his priorities if he retains his seat

What are your priorities?

To be honest, available and accountable to constituents and the Community.

Every contact made and every request for help or advice must be dealt with promptly and in confidence. It is essential that trust is not broken and false promises are not made. Otherwise you're only fooling yourself.

What is the biggest issue facing your area?

Housing and the cost of living are the 2 biggest challenges facing people in the area at the moment.

The Local Authority has no control over the latter but can have a crucial role in the provision of social housing units. More and more over recent years Approved Housing Bodies have become the primary providers of social housing while the Council's role has been diluted. This needs to change.

Why do you think you would make a good County Councillor?

If I failed to demonstrate this over the past 10 years then the people of the Municipal District will rightly let me know, in no uncertain terms, on 7th June. They are the ultimate judges.

Aidan Mullins is a candidate in the Graiguecullen Portarlington Municipal District. In the lead up to polling day on June 7 The Leinster Express / Laois Live will be featuring profiles on all 47 candidates vying for one of the 19 seats on Laois County Council.
