He currently serves as the Communications Director in the Department of Foreign Affairs. He has spent 20-years in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade during which time he served as Ambassador and Deputy Ambassador in large bilateral missions in Europe and Africa.

His most recent overseas posting was as Ireland's Ambassador to the Netherlands.

His resume also includes time as Director of headquarter business units for the Department of Foreign Affairs; a senior policy lead within the World Bank; and senior management positions in Africa with international NGOs.

He now lives in Dun Laoghaire with his wife Pamela, daughter Maya and son Noah. He hopes to take up his new position in September.
