Laois public LED light quality queried

Councillor questions brightness of low energy lighting
A councillor has queried the quality of light being delivered by low energy lighting.
The issue arose when Independent Cllr Ben Brennan asked “that Laois County Council trim back the trees on the Northern Relief Road in Graiguecullen."
In a written response to the motion, Roads Engineer Paul McLoughlin stated that: “Laois County Council will apply to TII for funding for these works and will proceed to undertake the works when funds are made available.”
Cllr Brennan sought assurances that the work would be done and said he had raised the issue on at least three previous occasions.
Although he agreed with the using resources wisely, Cllr Brennan questioned whether the energy saving LED lighting provided enough light.
Independent Cllr Aisling Moran was pleased to hear work would be carried out in the area.
The issue was discussed at the last meeting of the Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District.
