Bean bags, big teddies, toy cars wanted for Mountmellick ASD unit

A Laois boys primary school has put a callout to the community for donations of items to its Autism classrooms.

Scoil Phadraig Naofa BNS in Mountmellick has two ASD classrooms, and is also poised to begin works on a long awaited new extension that will include spacious ASD facilities.

In the meantime, they need specific types of toys and comforts to keep their ASD pupils stimulated and comfortable.

They have listed the following, to be donated in excellent condition.

"Big teddy bears. Cushions,  beanbags, toy cars, trucks, ramps / bridges. Swivel office chairs. 3D jigsaws".

The principal John Murrell told the Leinster Express / Laois Live more.

"We opened our first ASD unit in 2017 and how have two of them. We need a bit extra for them. If you have any extra toys please pass them on. We would also welcome other sensory related things like lights and weighted blankets," he said.

If you can help, call the school on 057 8624760.
