Abbeyleix South National School are set to contest their first-ever Cumann na mBunscol Cup final
Abbeyleix South National School will make history on Tuesday, October 20, when its football team contests a Cumann na mBunscol Cup final for the first time.
The Church of Ireland primary school has enjoyed a remarkable campaign, winning every match played this year to secure its place in the decider. They will face Gaelscoil Thromaire at Laois Hire O’Moore Park in Portlaoise, with throw-in scheduled for 1pm.
The achievement has been a source of huge pride for the school, with the players praised for their dedication, teamwork, determination and sportsmanship throughout the competition. Siney Bus Hire has sponsored a bus to transport the senior players and supporters to and from Laois GAA HQ for the final.
Supporters are encouraged to attend the historic occasion and wear the school colours of blue and yellow as Abbeyleix South NS bids to complete an unbeaten season by lifting the cup.
