Laois shop reopens after two years

After two years, Hayes’s local shop in Ballacolla has reopened under new ownership.
After two years, Hayes’s local shop in Ballacolla has reopened under new ownership.
The new owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, has praised locals for their support.
“We opened three weeks ago and we’re finding it great so far,” said the owner.
“The locals have been very supportive. It’s great for us, but it’s also great for them because they don’t have to travel all the way to the nearest Circle K for groceries."
"We are an independent family run business, so the support we have received has been great,” the owner said.
The shop is operating as a newsagent, and also provides a parcel connecting service.
“We are looking forward to having an ice cream machine in the shop soon,” the owner said.
The owner has said that the passing traffic through Ballacolla has been great for business.
“The passing traffic is our main focus- we get so many customers on their way to Kilkenny or Galway. It’s really great.”
The newsagent is open 6 days a week, from 8am-8pm Monday to Saturday, and 9am-8pm on Sundays.
