The animal welfare group says they are getting calls about horses and other animals with no access to water during the hot weather
Laois Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says it is receiving a large number of calls about animals with no access to water during the hot weather.
“We are currently receiving a large number of calls and messages regarding abandoned horses, animals without access to water, and other animal welfare concerns,” Laois SPCA said in an online post.
“Laois SPCA is a volunteer-run organisation and, unfortunately, we do not have the legal authority to enter or inspect private property, seize animals, or remove animals from the care of their owners,” they explained.
They advised people that: “If you are concerned about an animal's welfare, including cases of neglect, abandonment, or cruelty, these incidents should be reported directly to the ISPCA, who have authorised inspectors to investigate such complaints.”
They urged peopel to please report concerns using the following link:
Laois SPCA thanked the public for their continued support and for helping us ensure animal welfare.
