ESB says Mountmellick will benefit from the work

Disruption is expected to continue in and around Mountmelick through most of April to facilitate broadband rollout which will benefit the town, according to the ESB.

ESB Networks confirm to the Leinster Express / Laois Live that the works are taking place in Mountmellick are associated with its Fibre Make Ready programme. The works have delayed roads around the town.

"We apologise for the obvious inconvenience caused by these works and thank local businesses and residents for their forbearance. We expect traffic disruption to reduce in the coming weeks as the majority of the works are scheduled for side streets of the town, lasting for one day at any location.

"It is envisaged that the works will be completed on the third week of April. The works conducted will deliver high-quality broadband connectivity to the area so will thus bring long term benefits for businesses and families in the town," it said.

The ESB says it has deployed 2000kms of fibre deployed and 430 towers across the country.
