The incident happened at a bar on Main Street in Portlaoise
A man was found unconscious on the ground of a Portlaoise bar after an alleged assault last year.
Barry Galvin, 41, of 54 Willow Park, Carlow is accused of assault causing harm at Kavanagh’s Bar, Main Street, Portlaoise on October 8 last year.
Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby requested six weeks in order to get DPP directions in the case.
“It is on the serious side, that is why we are looking for DPP’s directions,” he explained.
He said the injured party was found unconscious on the ground in the pub with a cut and contusions to his head.
“Mr Galvin was allegedly identified as striking him,” he said.
Judge Nicola Andrews noted the man was “unconscious on the ground and bleeding” when found.
She adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on June 10 for DPP directions.
