Man had drugs in bags in Portlaoise

A man who had drugs for sale or supply in Laois was given community service. 

Michael O’Brien (36) of 19 Clonrooske View, Portlaoise, was convicted of having drugs for sale or supply at Clonrooske View on July 14, 2025. 

Solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick told the sitting of Portlaoise District Court that there was a very positive probation report and the man had been found suitable for community service. 

Judge  Susan Fay noted the man had been caught with €640 worth of drugs in 32 bags. She sentenced him to 100 hours of community service in lieu of seven months in prison. She also placed him on a supervision bond for 12 months.
