Minister says 1,624 homes built in Laois since 2020

A total of 1,624 new homes have been built in Laois since 2020, a Laois Minister has stated.
Minister of State, Sean Fleming has issued a statement welcoming the 1,624 new homes that have been built in County Laois, since Fianna Fáil returned to Government in 2020.
“Over 1,000 of these new homes have been built by the private sector in Laois for families and people, who have now bought and live in their own home,” said Minister Fleming.
“Currently, there are over 700 houses under construction by the private sector across the County, for people who want to buy their own private homes.
An additional 615 social homes were built in recent years, through direct Government investment, by Laois County Council and Approved Housing Bodies, across the County,” he remarked.
“The Government has committed to major investment in Laois, to build more social housing in 2024, for families that need it the most.
247 new social homes are currently under construction in Laois, in areas such as Portlaoise, Portarlington, Mountrath, Stradbally, Borris-in-Ossory and Errill,” said Minister Fleming.
“339 social homes are at the planning and design stage, with plans for construction of these homes in areas such as Portlaoise, Portarlington, Mountmellick, Mountrath and Durrow.
I look forward to the completion of the private and social homes currently under construction, so that families can move into them, as soon as possible,” he stated.
“Home ownership is a top priority for me and for Fianna Fáil. We are assisting many families, through various schemes, to achieve their objective of owning their own home,” concluded Minister Fleming.
