The new barrier was requested at a recent meeting

A new crash barrier is to be installed at a bridge in Ballickmoyler.

Independent Cllr Ben Brennan requested the work during the last meeting of Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District.

He tabled a motion asking “that Laois County Council put in place crash barriers at the Strand Bridge, Ballickmoyler.”

In response, Senior Executive Engineer, Philip McVeigh said “Laois County Council has inspected this location and will arrange to install a crash barrier at the bridge.”

Welcoming the response, Cllr Brennan asked that the work could be carried out earlier in the new year.
