Over 100 eviction notices issued in Laois in first half of 2024

Over 100 eviction notices were served in Laois in the first half of this year, new figures have shown.

112 eviction notices were served in Laois between January and June 2024, according to new figures from the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB).

There were 51 notices of termination issued between January and March and 61 between April and June. 

This figure is down 41 per cent compared to the same period last year when 191 eviction notices were issued over the first six months of the year. 

Nationally, 8,845 eviction notices were served between January and June this year, with the RTB noting a wave of landlords selling up on their properties as the number one reason for eviction notices.

The RTB stressed that one notice of termination could be received which relates to multiple tenants in one tenancy or separate notice of terminations could be received for each tenant in a tenancy.
