Pedal power as Laois Camogie club's fundraiser goes the distance

Banríon Gaels' new scenic route will take place across Laois
In an exciting twist to their annual fundraising tradition, the Banrion MAMaWILs (Middle Aged Men and Women In Lycra) are rebranding their beloved K2K event as P2K, Portarlington to Killenard. This year, the fundraiser is set to take participants on a scenic 75km journey, a change from the usual route but with the same leisurely pace and community spirit.
The revamped route will traverse through Portarlington, Mountmellick, Ballyfin, Portlaoise, and Vicarstown, culminating in a picturesque cycle along the canal banks to Killenard. Despite the new name, the distance remains unchanged, and participants can expect the same enjoyable experience with a mid-ride stop for tea and cake.
The event, now in its seventh year, aims to raise essential funds for the club, continuing its tradition of community engagement and support. Organisers are calling on all interested individuals to join the fun, emphasising that the more participants, the greater the potential to support the club’s initiatives.
With a commitment to maintaining a leisurely pace and ensuring a fun-filled day, this year’s P2K promises to be both a rewarding challenge and a delightful community event. For those interested in participating, it’s not just a chance to enjoy a scenic ride but also to contribute to a worthwhile cause. The more people who join in, the better the opportunity to raise vital funds for the club.
