Road ban for no insurance in Laois

A man who drove without tax or insurance has been disqualified from driving.
Robert Allen, 28, of 6 St Patrick’s Terrace, Borris-in-Ossory admitted having no licence or insurance at Fr Brown Avenue in Portlaoise on July 25 last year. The court heard he has 63 previous convictions.
Solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick said her client was going to work on the day he was stopped. She said he has since obtained a provisional licence and was really trying to get his life together.
Judge Andrew Cody said he had to take the defendant's past offending into account. He fined the man €300 for not having a licence and disqualified him for two years for no insurance together with another €300 fine. The man was given a year to pay the fines and legal aid was granted in the case.
