Santa comes to derelict Portlaoise pub thanks to Laois builder

Christmas hoarding decorates the facade of an unsightly shut pub
A big Laois construction company has given some Christmas cheer to one of Portlaoise's empty pubs thanks to a Santa-themed hoarding.
Workers with the Portlaoise-based Martin Reddin have attached the hoarding to the front of the former Charlie Keegan's pub at the bottom of Main Street in Portlaoise.
The image features Santa Claus on his sleigh pulled by Rudolf and the rest of the reindeer team.

The local authority took action as the historic pub at 16 Main Street had been vacant since 2017 and was falling into disrepair.
The council placed the property on its Derelict Sites Register on March, 26, 2024.
Laois County Council's Planning section told the Leinster Express / Laois Live that it had not been aware of any works being planned on the building.
