“On the 13/02/2024 in M7 Morette, Portlaoise, Co Laois Gardai stopped a vehicle for no insurance. The driver fled the scene after assaulting both Gardai. He was pepper sprayed. He was apprehended and arrested a short distance away, hiding in a conservatory in a house. He was detained and later charged with a number of offences, including money laundering
The suspect had €5,100 in cash in high denominations €100 and €200 euro bills on his person, and a number of suspected stolen items were also seized from the vehicle. The suspect is suspected of being a prolific shoplifter, and most of the items were believed to be clothing that had been stolen.”
