The reason why this busy road in Laois town is still closed

Laois County Council confirm when road to be reopened
A busy road in a Laois town has been closed again this Monday, after being reopened briefly for the weekend.
Harbour Street in Mountmellick first closed on Monday, March 24 causing delays for motorists, and was due to reopen by Friday evening at 6pm.
The closure is to allow the road to be dug up so the new Grange Hall housing estate can be connected to the sewerage system.
A detour for cars around Bay Road caused long delays when some trucks and buses took the route, instead of the proper detour for Heavy Goods Vehicles around by Emo and Portlaoise.
Now Laois County Council has confirmed to the Leinster Express / Laois Live, that a problem was encountered which forced a longer road closure.
A spokesperson for the roads department explained that the diggers hit rock underground.
They say that the road will be reopened by Wednesday evening at 6pm.
