Rain water is flowing off a road down towards a house in a Laois town.

A local councillor has called on Laois County Council to install new drainage at Tonduff in Abbeyleix.

Cllr John Joe Fennelly described the flooding as "a serious problem", tabling a motion on it to the January meeting of Portlaoise Municipal District.

"There was always a flooding problem. You got them sorted at Carroll's house. This man has contacted us, his house is below the road level, that's probably causing part of the problem. He is very concerned," he said.

His motion requests the council to include the entrance to Smyths on their 2023 programme of road drainage works.

The Cathaoirleach Cllr Barry Walsh seconded.
